A Passion For The Lost

A PASSION FOR THE LOST

By Rodney W. Francis.

We are living in different and difficult days! As truly ‘born-again by the Holy Spirit’ Christians we have been brought into God’s Kingdom “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). We need to know that God has entrusted us with His Message of Truth that can transform lives and bring them into a living and real relationship with the Risen Son of God, Jesus Christ. We can make a positive difference today when we are motivated by the love of God to get His Message out to those who are still lost and have no eternal hope or future like we do. The Early Church disciples and followers of Jesus Christ had been filled with the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:1-14), and they were motivated and energized by the Holy Spirit to share Jesus with others. As a result they “turned their world upside down” (Acts 17:6) as multitudes believed their Message and yielded their lives to Jesus Christ. They were filled with a passion to win the lost into the Kingdom of God. They knew it was the last command of Jesus to His disciples to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen” (Mark 16:15-20). They obeyed, and we have the record of their exploits and ministries in the Book of Acts. God went and worked with them and confirmed their words through miraculous signs and wonders. They demonstrated the New Covenant Gospel by words and deeds. It has not changed. Today, if we will hearken to the voice of the Lord and obey what He asks of us we will see signs and wonders following us as well.

The big questions today for Christians are:

  • “How filled with the Holy Spirit am I, and how much passion do I have to get the Gospel of Jesus Christ out to the unsaved?”  Only you can answer that question for you, and only I can answer it for me.

  • With regards the fulfilling of the Great Commission (Mark 16:15-20), what are you and I doing about it?

  • Are we fulfilling our calling in God, or are we hiding behind excuses?

As long as we have excuses we will always disobey God. Know afresh today that it was God Who chose you to walk with Him, because He saw great potential in you when you are obedient to His love and calling. He has given you a commission and you carry the only Message that can save people from their sins. No other message works that can change a hopeless sinner into a mighty saint of God!  The tragedy is that the needs are great, multitudes are hungering after reality in life, and we seem ‘blinded’ to it all (generally speaking).

  • What has to change so we can be much more passionate and much more effective in God’s purposes for us today?

You might ask me, “How do you know that there is a great hunger amongst the unsaved for reality today?” Every day we are receiving requests and pleas for help from around the world. People are crying out for reality. Many of them are locked into religious beliefs and gatherings, etc., but have not experienced the power of the Holy Spirit to set them free into newness of life. It burdens me that we have opportunity to save the multitudes but we are unable to respond like we would like to. Many of these pleas we are receiving are from non-Christian countries, where false religions and ideologies keep people bound. When they hear the true Message of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit they believe and accept it. Hallelujah!

  • When we Christians get a greater passion for the lost we will do much more to meet those needs and to see the Kingdom of God enlarged because we did something more to meet those needs.

As we give of ourselves and what we have to others, God will see to it that we will not lack in our own personal lives.

Jesus said: “Give, and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you” (Luke 6:38).

Jean and I have proved this promise over and over. We have lived totally by faith since the beginning of the year 2000 and have seen God provide for us wonderfully ever since. And The GFM Ministry has grown from going into 55 countries to over 230! And every month every bill is paid. We have continued to give unto others and have experienced God blessing and keeping us day after day. We feel more secure living this way than we did when we were receiving a salary! Our biggest burden is to be able to reach more people for Jesus Christ before it is too late!

PASSION MOTIVATES US

Passion motivates us. It causes us to make decisions that will help us to fulfil that passion more and more. Those who are truly born-again by the Holy Spirit have a testimony to share with others of what Jesus Christ has personally done in our lives. Your testimony carries impact. It gives people a hope that they, too, can experience what you/we have. Passion causes us to share our testimony and to do what God asks of us. He can speak to us in the next moment of time! Keep your heart and ears open to Him and you will be surprised at how He will lead and guide you day by day. He knows the needs of a person and can lead us to the right person(s), in the right place at the right time with the right Message to get the right result! There is always a positive testimony on the other side of our obedience to God. Always trust the voice of God to you as He is the Truth and knows the end from the beginning of every situation.

A PASSION FOR THE LOST HELPS US TO PRAY!

A passion for the lost helps us to pray. It gives us a stronger desire for God to touch and save them, as we know they need His love and power to convict and convince them that Jesus is the only way, the only truth and the only life to God (John 14:6). As you pray be encouraged to keep your heart open for the Holy Spirit to guide you as to what He would have you to do. Seek to be sensitive to His voice, for then you can have the joy of God using you in surprising and unexpected ways as you go through your day. Please pray that we will be able to meet all the requests and needs that we are receiving from numbers of countries.

May we all have a stronger passion and desire to see the lost won to Jesus Christ before it is too late. Ask God to show you what He would have you to do today to help extend His Kingdom here on earth. God bless you and use you more than ever before! Great will be your reward in heaven as you seek to fulfil the Great Commission of Jesus Christ in this needy hour of time.
