WHO IS JESUS?

We are living in days when it is very important that Christians know Who Jesus is. If we do not know without a doubt Who Jesus is, then we will compromise our faith and finish up with a powerless mixture. More and more the ways of the world are anti-Christ ~ and are trying hard to break Christian beliefs so that we will conform to their ways. Therefore it is vital that we personally know Jesus in reality. Eight times in John's Gospel Jesus said Who He was:

  1. He said: "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35). And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst”.

  2. He said: "I am the light of the world" (John 8:12). Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."

  3. He said: "Before Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58). Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."

  4. He said: "I am the door" (John 10:9). “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture”.

  5. He said: "I am the good shepherd” (John 10:11). "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep”.

  6. He said: "I am the resurrection and the life" (John 11:25). Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live”.

  7. He said: "I am the way, the truth and the life" (John 14:6). Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”.

  8. He said: "I am the vine" (John 15:5). "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing”.

The Bible is very clear that there is no other way to God than through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Christianity is believing in the Person of Jesus Christ, not following a religion. To enter the Kingdom of God we have to be born-again by the Holy Spirit ~ and that can only happen as we confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of our life. There is no other way of Salvation ~ not by works, attending church services, or keeping the law. The Bible is clear: “Let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone. Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:10-12; see all of Acts 3 and 4 to get the background).

Christianity is a total commitment to follow Jesus Christ and His teachings. They are far superior to anyone else’s teachings, and the teachings of Jesus impart life, salvation, healing, wholeness and many other wonderful things into us to enable us to live a God-pleasing life-style. Any other way is vain self-effort, head knowledge or following some “holy man” that can never match what Jesus Christ has accomplished for us to live a victorious life in the here and now. Jesus came to this world in order that we “may have life, and that we may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). The true Christian does not need alcohol, drugs or other stimulants to give us a high. Those things are all temporary fixes, but Jesus gives us a permanent new life that is far superior to anything the world tries to put on us. Hallelujah! He sets us free and gives us a far greater, more satisfying, more fulfilling life to live. Why? Because we are now born of God: “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4-5).

  • These Scripture promises are not theories, but wonderful truths that you and I can experience right now – today!

  • Jesus Christ gives us Victory with a capital V!

  • Without Him we can do nothing ~ but with Him we can do all things (John 15; Philippians 4:13)! All Praise to Him!

The challenge we have is to make sure that we, personally, know Jesus Christ as God’s only way of Salvation. Do not be deceived into thinking that there are many other ways to God. No one paid the supreme sacrifice for our sins like Jesus did. Only the blood of Jesus Christ shed at Calvary’s Cross could make atonement for our sin, our ignorance of God’s way, and our rebellion that we lived in before we met Jesus. He so loved each one of us that he was prepared to suffer, die, and be raised again from the dead so we could know in reality that abundant life He purchased for us.

  • The more we know Who He is, the more we will live in the victory of what He has accomplished for us.

So, dear Friend:

  • Do YOU know Who Jesus is?

  • Do YOU know Him personally and in reality?

  • Has He changed YOUR life and given YOU purpose and meaning that YOU never knew before?

If you do not know Jesus personally, let me encourage you to reach out to Him and ask Him to reveal Himself to you in a very real way, so that you are in no doubt as to Who He is. He stands at the door of your heart right now. This is what He says to you right now: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). Will you respond to His knocking on the door of your heart today? He will not come in unless you open the door and invite Him in. You will never regret inviting Jesus Christ into your heart and life. God Bless YOU ~ Rodney W. Francis.

Bible Reading:     John 14

Prayer:  “Dear Lord Jesus, I invite You to come into my life in a very real way, so that I can know You as You really are: ‘The way, the truth and the life’ and ‘King of kings and Lord of lords’ (Revelation 19:16). I confess to You my need of You so that I can have the privilege and joy of knowing You, Who You really are. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
