Every
Christian who knows he/she is born-again by the Holy Spirit of God, knows that
the Holy Spirit has come to take up residence inside of us. We have become His
temple (2
Corinthians 6:16-18). Right now,
wherever you are, and whatever circumstances you find yourself in, know
that the Holy Spirit of God is within you. You are different to others!
You have been bought with the price of the blood of Jesus, and now
HE lives inside of you! Jesus
said: “If you love Me, keep My
commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper,
that He may abide (“live in”)
you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it
neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and
will be in you . . . At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you
in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who
loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him
and manifest (from Greek word “emphanizo” meaning “to exhibit
(in person) or disclose (by words): appear, declare (plainly), inform, (will)
manifest, show, signify” –
Strong’s; “to cause to be
seen; to appear, to be seen openly” – Bullinger’s) Myself
to him.” Judas
(not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself
to us, and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone
loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come
to him and make Our home with him”
(John 14:15-24). Jesus
spoke these words prior to His departure back to the Father in Heaven, and the
fullness of the Holy Spirit had not yet come. He came on the Day of Pentecost
(Acts 2)
and filled and empowered the disciples of Jesus to be His witnesses, and to do
the works He called them to. The Holy Spirit came! He
revolutionized those early disciples in such power and boldness that they went
out and began to change their world for Jesus! The
same principle and pattern still applies today. The question is:
The
true key to Christianity is knowing
what Jesus accomplished for us through His death and resurrection. All Jesus
went through was so He could send the Holy Spirit Comforter into our lives and
enable us to live the “Christ life” to the glory of God. That is why it is
so important that every Christian knows what it is to be filled with the Holy
Spirit!
THE
SAME HOLY SPIRIT! He
is not another Holy Spirit, or an inferior spirit to the one and only HOLY
SPIRIT! HE IS THE ONLY HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD! And He has been sent to live inside of each one of us forever! “But
if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who
raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through
His Spirit who dwells in you”
(Romans 8:11,
NKJV). Here’s
some good advice from “The Message” Bible: It stands to reason, doesn't it, that if the alive-and-present God Who
raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, He'll do the same thing in
you that He did in Jesus, bringing you alive to Himself? When God lives and
breathes in you (and He does, as surely as He did in Jesus), you are delivered
from that dead life. With His Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive
as Christ's! So
don't you see that we don't owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent.
There's nothing in it for us, nothing at all. The best thing to do is give it
a decent burial and get on with your new life. God's Spirit beckons. There are
things to do and places to go! This
resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life.
It's adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike "What's next,
Papa?" God's Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are.
We know Who He is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we
are going to get what's coming to us — an unbelievable inheritance! We go
through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with
Him, then we're certainly going to go through the good times with Him! (Romans 8:11-17). No
wonder the Apostle Paul prayed, “that
He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened (from
Greek word “krataioo” meaning “to make powerful, make powerful in
effect” –
Bullinger’s) with might (“dunamis”
= “the being able, i.e. ability, inherent power, natural capacity, moral as
well as physical ability, miraculous energy, ability to effect all the
purposes of rectitude and wisdom; a work, with reference to the power required
for its performance” – Bullinger’s)
through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to
comprehend (“katalambano” = “to receive fully” -
Young’s; “to take eagerly,
i.e. seize, possess” - Strong’s; “to
comprehend for one’s self, perceive” - Bullinger’s)
with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height – to
know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with
all the fullness of God. Now to Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly
above all we ask or think, according to the power (“dunamis” – seeing meaning above)
that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all
generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians
3:14-21). “Dunamis”
is the Holy Spirit power that is now within us. But unless we activate it, it
will simply lie dormant within us and no one will get any of the benefits of
its purposes. In
this hour there is a desperate need for Christians to rediscover the truth of
who they are in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Without the
“dunamis” power of God actively working in and through our lives, we are
as weak and “normal” as any other human being. It is the “Christ in you the hope of glory” that makes all the
difference (Colossians
1:27)! May
God give us a greater revelation of this amazing truth ~ that God would even
desire to live inside of us is beyond our comprehension ~ but He did, and He
does ~ and now it is over to us to think, believe and act according to the
truth of what He has already done for us! With
the same Holy Spirit that has raised Jesus Christ from the dead now living
inside of us, we can make a huge difference in the way we live and impact
other people’s lives for His praise, honour and glory.
