THE
WATER
OF LIFE As the world becomes more and more
complex, constantly inventing new technology and redefining
“acceptable” mindsets, the Lord is asking us, His people, to
simplify our lives and lifestyles. It’s not hard to see why when we
observe major problems and disasters occurring daily, for which man is
pushed to his utter limits in the hope of finding answers. In spite of
every modern day version of the Bible, mankind is perhaps further away
from God than we’ve ever been. Generally speaking it is no longer
acceptable to talk of sin, or the place called hell,
because no one wants to know about such “old-fashioned, irrelevant
ideas!” Our life could be likened to a
deep well, and if we’re not diligent in our lifestyle, then others
will come along and fill our well with every type of garbage and
nonsense that’s the in-thing of the day. The devil is very talented at
attempting to fill our wells with every kind of junk that’s on the
scene or on his twisted frame of mind! He has no clean water in his own
well so he seeks to rob us also from having pure, fresh water in our own
well. But we will stand or fall according to the quality of water in our
well or the lack thereof. “For
My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me, the fountain
of living waters, to hew out cisterns (wells)
for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water”
(Jeremiah
2:13). It is obvious that, what the Lord
said about His people then, still applies to us today - not only do we
have leaking wells and/or wells filled with unpalatable water, but we
also have broken wells. What is God’s answer to this?
“Therefore, with joy
shall you draw water out of the wells of salvation”
(Isaiah 12:3).
This is God’s number one plan for every person in the world today –
the plan of salvation. When Jesus, the Water of Life, comes into our
life, He flows freely and directly into our well (our
life), bringing us pure, clean water, a deep peace, and joy in
the Holy Spirit.
Keep
your life centred in Him.
Keep
it filled with clean, healthy, flowing water. Protect
it continually from garbage and debris. We have no promise of a tomorrow
so we must live today wisely. If
our life is too cluttered with other things, we will not have pure water
to offer anyone else. Truly this is a day to be setting our heart on the
things that have eternal value. With all the catastrophes taking place
around the globe, it is not a time to be living ungodly, selfish lives,
living for the moment instead of living for the Saviour.
