IN  THE  BEGINNING …

Do you need encouragement to have faith in God today above all else?

I just love the way the Apostle John begins his Gospel account by establishing the most profound truth . . . “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same (Jesus) was in the beginning with God” (John 1:1-2). “And the Word was made flesh (Jesus), and dwelt among us . . .” (verse 14).

The so-called brilliant minds of this world would have us believe that in the beginning there was a great cosmic explosion that led to our existence (the big bang!); or that in the beginning was the monkey from whom we have evolved (evolution).

But John is simply reinforcing Genesis 1:1 that states, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”  He doesn’t pussyfoot around and say, “Well, it’s quite possible that God could have been the first on the scene!”  No!  He makes an emphatic statement of truth that is just as important to us today as it was when John committed it to paper all those years ago.  The truth is that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, are the makers of heaven and earth, and all life and nature that is contained in the earth.  God said:

“Let there be light . . . then He divided the light from the darkness.

  Let there be sky . . .

  Let the waters under heaven be gathered together unto one place, and

let the dry land appear . . .

  Let the earth produce all kinds of plants . . .

  Let lights appear in the sky to separate night from day . . .

  Let the water be filled with many kinds of living beings, and let the air be

filled with birds . . .

  Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind . . .

  Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness . . .

  And God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him;

             male and female created He them” (see Genesis Chapter 1).

Godless men would have us believe we are here by accident; that we just 'came about.’  But John clearly reinforces the truth: “In the beginning was GOD.”

·               WE  CAN TRUST  HIM.

·               GOD  HAS  ALWAYS  BEEN  AROUND!

“IN THE BEGINNING, YOU LORD, LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH.  THE HEAVENS ARE THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS. THEY WILL COME TO AN END, BUT YOU WILL REMAIN FOREVER” (Hebrews 1:10-11).

There is no greater truth in this world than the fact that GOD IS.  So, if the foundations of our life are built on God and His Word, we are the most secure people on the face of the earth.  We can believe God because He’s more sure than anything around us can ever be.
