I Know Where I Am Going! Jesus
said to the Pharisees, “. . . I know where I came from and I know
where I’m going . . .” Do
we have that kind of confidence? Do
we know where we’re going? What
a wonderfully, positive attitude Jesus showed, despite the fact He was
constantly hounded and stalked by the so-called religious experts of His
day. He knew
His
calling and He never once deviated from it. "Tell
us WHO You are?” demanded His critics. “I
am the One I’ve always claimed to be,” replied Jesus in His honest
reply (John
8:25-26). Are
we the person we’re claiming to be? Jesus was so transparent. There was no dark side to Him; there were no hidden secrets that could be uncovered or ‘pop out’ at an opportune, embarrassing moment. We can be transparent too
when "we know
the truth and the truth sets us free"
(verse 32). It doesn’t really matter what the so-called experts say when we “know the truth” because we have a built-in compass, His name is the Holy Spirit. We know that when we “walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16) we walk in truth and victory. We know where we’ve come from: we’ve come from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Light. We know why we’re here: “To do those things that are pleasing to my (our) Father” (verse 29). And we know where we’re going: we’re walking every day with Jesus in this life and the next: our names are written in Heaven’s Register and our eyes are steadfast on the goal (Luke 10:20; Revelation 20:15 & 21:27). ~
